12th - 21st September 2026

For 24 years Barmouth Walking Festival has been encouraging visitors to experience the beauty of South Eryri on foot, guided by experienced and knowledgeable leaders.
This year is no exception with a wide variety of walks on offer, ranging from challenging all-day hikes to walking for wellness and mindfulness. 2026 also sees the anticipated return of the Saturday ‘Super-Walk’ (experienced mountain walkers only). This strenuous, all day, hike follows the extended Cadair Idris ridge from Dolgellau to Barmouth, over a distance in excess of 25km and climb exceeding 1,400m.
During the Festival there is also a varied programme of social events available. Details are available by clicking on the events in the list below and can be booked in advance at the same time as your walks.
About Us

Registration
Walkers meet at the Carousal Café, 1 King Edward Street, Barmouth, LL42 1AN. Registration times are listed against each walk below.
There are several reasons for encouraging walkers to convene at the café.
The major advantage is to allow the sharing of transport, which enables us to reduce the number of vehicles trying to park in regularly very limited spaces, as well as minimising our environmental impact. It is also a really good opportunity to catch up with walk leaders and assistants prior to each walk.
We do understand that sometimes it is difficult for walkers to come into Barmouth to register prior to their walks and we are happy for those impacted to meet the group at the start, at the advertised walk start time. Please note, that we operate on the assumption that walkers will register at the café unless we are notified otherwise.
The cafe will open at 8.00am during the Festival, so why not come along early and take advantage of their superb cooked breakfasts as well as snacks and drinks for the day ahead.

Booking Your Walks
Scroll down this page for a full list of the walks and use the Grade & Date filters to narrow your search as required, or alternatively click the ‘Book’ button at the top of this page. Please read the description of each walk carefully and note its grade to ensure you are fit enough to participate (please refer to Grading Guide above).
You must only book your own walks and you will need to read and accept our Terms & Conditions prior to completion. Please DO NOT BOOK WALKS FOR ANYONE ELSE. We need to evidence that each walker independently agrees to the Festival T&Cs.
If you wish to bring your dog, please check walk details for suitability before booking. (Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times). It is worth noting that not all public transport will take dogs and you are advised to check this with the relevant transport company before booking your walks.
All walks (excluding walks 14 & 23) are priced at £7. Bookings can be made using credit or debit card and payment will be taken at the time of booking. Bookings will be confirmed by email.
*If you need to amend your booking please email hello@barmouthwalkingfestival.co.uk with your booking reference and details of the change you wish to make. Please note that the Festival does not offer refunds.
