High Above The Estuary

This popular walk for those with a good level of fitness is a spectacular loop on the ridge high above the Mawddach Estuary beginning with a short train ride from Barmouth across to Morfa Mawddach. Views down to the coast, over to Barmouth, and to the surrounding mountains are marvellous, continuing through much of the day. There is a long ascent to the start of the ridge flanking Cadair Idris and up to Braich Ddu and Craig-y-llyn. The footing is generally good with no exposure. Some of the forest tracks on the route can be rough and the ground may be muddy in places. After a steep descent the top of Arthog Falls is reached and the falls followed down to eventually cross the bridge back to Barmouth. Meet at the registration the point at the Carousal Cafe.
