Total ascent 2,400 feet (732m)

Known as the Cwm Cerist Round, this new walk takes in some less walked hills compared to nearby Cadair Idris, following open ridges with stunning views and a very remote feel. The main peak reached is Maesglase with its dramatic waterfall, but first comes Minllyn mine above Dinas Mawddwy and a remote mountain lake on Foel Dinas. There is one very steep descent, a return crossing of the A470 and then a quiet lane and woodland back. Start point is at Dinas Mawddwy public car park opposite the Llew Coch (Red Lion) Inn (postcode SY20 9JA), with toilets available.
