NEW Conquering Cadair Idris
£6.00
A new route for the walking festival to the summit of one of the most spectacular mountains in the UK. Cadair Idris (Chair of Idris) consists of a massive 6.8-mile ridge with the highest point at Penygadair reaching 2,930 feet (893 metres). It is the second most popular mountain in Wales and the middle one of the Welsh Three Peaks challenge between Pen-y-Fan and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). Legend has it that anyone who spends a night on Cadair will wake as a poet or go mad. There are four main routes up but this dramatic walk ascends on a different, little known path from beautiful Tal-y-Llyn Lake up to Mynydd Pencoed and on to Penycadair with its trig point and stone shelter. This is a challenging walk with some steep ascents and descents but the reward will be far reaching views over a vast area of North and Mid Wales.
The walk starts at the Minffordd Dol Idris pay and display car park, LL36 9AJ.
