NEW Traversing The Rhinogydd
£6.00
An exciting opportunity to traverse the Northern Rhinogydd (Rhinogs) is offered by this new linear walk from near Trawsfynydd to Talsarnau crossing the ridge of the rugged mountains including the summits of Moel y Gyrafolen, Diffwys, Foel Penolau and Moel Ysgyfarnogod. From Llyn Trawsfynydd the route follows a minor road before a 1.25-mile ascent from Tyn Twll to Moel y Gyrafolen. It then crosses the three other tops, descending along a picturesque miners' track past old manganese mines to Llyn Eiddew Bach and the village of Soar ending at Talsarnau where there is a pub. There are extensive views of the higher Eryri (Snowdonia) peaks and the coast of Pen Llyn out to Bardsey Island. The geology encountered along the route is interesting. Public Transport - Initially we take the 8.32am T3 bus from Barmouth changing at Dolgellau for the connecting T2 service to Trawsfynydd arriving at 9.30am. Returning from Talsarnau there is a G23 bus at 2.44pm and 3.44pm to Barmouth or trains at 2.13pm or 4.13pm. THIS WILL NOT BE NECESSAERY IF WE USE A MINIBUS
