NEW Hill of Sacrifice & An Historic Estate
£7.00
Continuing our celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park Authority, this promises to be a cracking walk on the Nannau Estate near Llanfachreth on the outskirts of Dolgellau. Thanks to the co-operation of the landowner, in the right weather this can offer panoramic mountain views in every direction from Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and the Moelwynion to the north, the Rhinogydd to the west, the impressive scarp of Cadair Idris to the south, and the Aran and Arenig mountains to the east. Nannau has a fascinating history stretching back to the 11th Century. We can also enjoy a slow but steep ascent up Foel Offrwm (Hill of Sacrifice) which is a stunning spot to take a well-earned rest amid the ruins of an Iron Age hill fort. There is a combination of hard and natural paths which can be uneven and wet. The walk start is the Saith Groesffordd Car Park at Llanfachreth (LL40 2NG) where there are toilets.
