Footsteps to Fairbourne (CR)
£5.00
Ascent (Feet): 1093
We leave the registration point and walk across the Barmouth Bridge to Morfa Mawddach railway halt. This is where we meet our walk leader. There is an opportunity to use the nearby toilets before setting off on the main part of the walk. We then take a long but gentle ascent, which we will take slowly, to the Blue Lake. From here you have lovely views of Fairbourne, the Mawddach Estuary, and Cardigan Bay. We descend through a gully and reach the village of Fairbourne. This gives us an opportunity to explore it's attractions and have some refreshments in one of the cafes.
Walkers can then choose to take the 3.40pm (or even 5.40pm) train back to Barmouth or walk back via the footpath to Morfa Mawddach and then retrace our footsteps across the bridge. This adds a couple of miles.
