Dolgellau Quaker Trail (Llwybyr y Crynwyr) (SR)

SKU Walk27
Price

£5.00

Ascent (Feet): 1000

After registration we will catch the 09.32am Bus from Jubilee Road which gets into Dolgellau at 09.55am.

We start the walk through the old part of Dolgellau then quite soon start the ascent into the hills above the town. The first mile is uphill with an ascent of approx 500 feet. There is a very steep gradient climbing out of the town, initially on Tarmac then on a rough and uneven track follwed by a gentler ascent across fields.

From here the paths/tracks are mainly undulating and a mixture of fields, potentially boggy/muddy ground through woodland and uneven stony/rocky paths. There are three stiles, three footbridges over streams and three narrow streams to be negotiated over stones.

The walk encompasses passing several Quaker related properties/ruins and their original burial ground dating back to the 1600's. The last 1.5 miles of the walk is steeply downhill on a backroad. Weather permitting there are various mountain views including the Rhinnogydd, Arans and Cadair Idris.

There are plenty of bus options back to Barmouth from Dolgellau including 4.05pm and 5.05pm.
